Tips for a Successful Video Interview
Set the Tone
First impressions matter, even in virtual settings. Start by setting a warm and friendly tone to help your potential nanny feel at ease. Begin the conversation with a casual opener to break the ice before transitioning into the interview questions such as, “We are excited to have the opportunity to speak with you! Can you tell us a little about yourself?”
Ask Questions
Prepare a short list of questions that cover an overview of basic information, skills, experience, personality, and expectations. Tailor your questions to your specific needs, such as childcare preferences, and availability for overnight stays. Remember to ask about their experience working with children similar to yours and any special requirements your family may have.
Leave Time for Questions
After asking your questions, allow the nanny candidate an opportunity to ask their own. They may inquire about salary, job expectations, or daily routines. Giving them a chance to ask questions shows that you value their input and allows you to address any concerns they may have.
keep it short
We encourage keeping video calls to no more than 30 minutes. If you find yourself wanting to talk to a candidate more, that’s a great sign that you should move forward with an in-person meeting!
Provide Feedback
After the interview, take notes on your impressions and report back to the Nashville Nanny Agency. Share any relevant details about the call and indicate whether you'd like to proceed with an in-person interview. Your feedback will assist us in making informed decisions and matching you with the most suitable candidates.
