Nannies: Holiday Arts & Crafts for all ages
We know the holiday’s are an exciting and busy time! With the children being out of school and shopping and holiday activities ramping up, something to keep the children entertained and engaged is a must! Arts & Crafts are a great way to allow your nanny children to explore their creative side. Here are a few easy holiday crafts to try with your nanny children that are sure to keep them entertained and be something the family will love too!
If you have infants to 2 year olds: It might seem like this age is too young to participate in crafts! And honestly, you might be doing most of the work… But this is something the family is sure to love, so give this a try!
MistleTOES! Using a watercolor paint of your choice (we suggest red or green to keep in holiday theme) cover the child's foot in the paint and stamp their footprint on a piece of colorful construction paper! Once this is dry and the child is all cleaned up, the older children can decorate as they would like with the watercolors stamps, stickers, glitter, etc. Whatever you find at your local craft store! Let them get as creative as they want, this is where their little personalities can really come out. If they are too young to decorate, skip this step. You can take a sharpie and write their name and date so the family can keep this adorable craft!
If you have ages 2-5 years old: The perfect ages for a simple holiday craft! Give this one a try with your kiddos!
Christmas Tree Paper Plates! Take a basic paper plate and a green marker or green watercolor paint and color the entire plate green. Once this is complete and dry, cut the plate into even thirds, creating 3 triangle shapes. From there, you can create a Christmas tree by stacking them on top of each other! From here you can get creative. The children can use glitter, beads, a star or angel to top the tree, etc.! Anything that you have on hand or think would work best! Let them get creative here and really put their personality into their trees! Once they are complete, take a sharpie and write their name and date so the family can keep this adorable craft if they’d like!
If you have children 5 and up: This is a great opportunity for them to get creative while also working with them on their letters/words!
Handwritten Holiday Cards! Nanny’s, you can help the child paint or draw pictures they think their loved ones would like, anything holiday themed! Let the child decorate with glitter, beads and more coloring. After this is done, assist the child in writing a sweet message for a family member! Assist them as much as they need but this is also a great time for them to practice writing their letters or sounding out words, depending on their age! Make multiple if you have time, this is something parents would love to keep!
The Holiday season can be overwhelming and busy but it's important to keep the children engaged and always learning! These crafts are a great way to do both! And an added bonus is adorable artwork that can be displayed at the house and kept for years to come. These are just 3 examples of countless more crafts you can do with your kiddos. We recommend Pinterest for more creative ideas!
Enjoy and Happy Holidays!
